HEDVA AMRANI has established herself as a major international singing and recording star. From Tel Aviv to Tokyo and Europe to the US. She made history as the first Israeli singer to conquer the Japanese market.
HEDVA has enchanted audiences at prestigious music theaters such as the Olympia in Paris, Albert Hall in London, Carnegie Hall, Town Hall, Philharmonic Center in New York, the Budokan in Tokyo, Dorothy Chandler Pavillion in Los Angeles and the biggest theaters in Israel.
HEDVA’S unique vocal quality comes from her background as a third generation Sabra, born to a leading Yemenite family in Israel. The petite dynamo recorded her first hit song while serving in the Israeli Defense Forces. Ever since then, she has recorded many albums in Israel and in the United States for RCA, MGM, and CBS that produced many of her big hits.
HEDVA started her career as part of the duo HEDVA AND DAVID. Together they represented Israel in the first Yamaha Song Festival in Tokyo winning the first place with their song “I Dream of Naomi.” They recorded the song in Japanese and became the only foreigners ever to earn Japan’s equivalent of our Grammy Award. HEDVA AND DAVID succeeded in selling millions of records of the song “I Dream Of Naomi” which turned gold, and went on recording eight albums in Japan .
In the United States the TV commercial they took part in, featuring the song “Bashana Habaah” was filmed for the Israeli Ministry of Tourism. The commercial inspired millions of Americans to visit Israel and won the best commercial of the year. HEDVA‘S greatest honor came on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Establishment of the State of Israel when she was chosen as one of the 25 most significant people making their contribution to the state of Israel since its birth.
Following the peace treaty between Israel and Egypt, HEDVA visited Egypt and became the first and only Israeli singer to record there in perfect Arabic the song “Dove of Peace”. HEDVA’S repertoire includes the songs which made her popular in Israel and around the world. Songs from Jewish life and of her Yemenite heritage, as well as international favorites and her own original material.
HEDVA continues to release new albums. Her latest single “Just Be” (Pashut Lihyot)) topped the Israeli charts and is available on iTunes along with her other albums. Her music can be heard daily on Israeli radio stations and she can frequently be seen on local television. HEDVA is currently touring Israel with her new show which was premiered at the most prestigious Recanati Hall at the Tel Aviv Museum of Art, singing the songs of her early career up to the present. The show was recorded live and now available with all of her albums on all the digital platforms.
